NASA and the Manila Observatory establish partnership for CAMP2Ex

In the pursuit of understanding how aerosols affect climate and weather, as well as agriculture, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) partnered with the Manila Observatory for the Cloud, Aerosol and Monsoon Processes Philippines Experiment (CAMP2Ex).

CAMP2Ex is an airborne mission of NASA to characterize the role of aerosol particles in modulating the frequency and amount of rainfall in the Philippines during the Southwest Monsoon season. This mission will make use of NASA’s most versatile airborne platforms– airborne laboratories equipped with sensors and instruments creating the opportunity to gather extraordinary data needed in the completion of the mission.

This collaborative effort of scientists from NASA and the Observatory, as well as PAGASA will not only allow for greater understanding of the weather systems in the Philippines, it will also pave the way for local scientists to make use of the data and harness their experience for locally-initiated research on weather and climate when it comes to the crafting predictive models for the future.
