The Regional Climate Systems (RCS) program aims to understand the local or fine-scale features of Philippines and Southeast Asian climate to detect past and future changes that can endanger ecosystems and communities. The program does research on high-resolution climate change science and weather extremes, through regional climate and mesoscale modeling and data analysis.
In studying the physical and local impacts of global climate change and variability and the influence of local biospheric change, e.g. urbanization, on extreme weather and local climate, the program aims to provide adequate scientific guidance to disaster mitigation and long term climate adaptation policy development.
