The Manila Observatory participated in the Internet of Things (IoT) Conference held on October 29-30, 2024, at the SMX Convention Center Manila, Pasay City, Philippines.
The IoT conference aimed to bring together industry, government, and academia to raise awareness on IoT technology and how it can enhance disaster management, increase agricultural productivity, and improve energy efficiency.
During the panel discussion, Dr. Sherdon Nino Uy of the Manila Observatory, Ariestelo Asilo of Varacco, and Han Wei Tan of Sustainable Harvest spoke about how IoT is being used in smart agriculture and disaster management.
Dr. Uy presented the Manila Observatory’s High-Definition Clean Energy, Climate, and Weather Forecasts for the Philippines (ECW) project, which provides timely data, information, and analysis to support climate change adaptation and clean energy choices. He also highlighted how IoT technology can contribute to better disaster response in the country.
