The Manila Observatory participated during the AERONET (AErosol RObotic NETwork) Science and Application Exchange, held from September 17 to 19, 2024, at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, United States.
AERONET, established by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and international collaborators, is a global federation of ground-based remote sensing aerosol networks providing a standardized, public-domain database of aerosol properties, supporting research, satellite validation, and data integration for over 30 years.
The exchange brought together the worldwide AERONET community to foster discussions and collaborations on topics such as scientific development, instrument calibration, research, and applications.
Dr. Melliza Templonuevo Cruz, research scientist from the Air Quality Dynamics Laboratory of the Manila Observatory, shared insights on AERONET measurements and their applications in the Philippines.
