Manila Observatory Executive Director Dr. Gemma Narisma, along with Air Quality Dynamics and Instrumentation and Technology Development Laboratory co-heads Dr. Maria Obiminda Cambaliza and Dr. James Bernard Simpas joined other project participants in a Science Team Meeting (STM) with NASA in Pasadena, California last 5-7 March 2019. This STM is for the Cloud, Aerosol, Monson Processes Philippines Experiment (CAMP²Ex).
The meeting included updates from different project sites, along with status reports from the different project stakeholders. Drs. Narisma, Cambaliza, and Simpas also presented their science questions and current datasets taken from the ground-based instruments installed in the Manila Observatory. The meeting involved intensive planning for the field campaigns, as well as breakout sessions on different topics related to the project’s initiatives.
At this meeting, Dr. Cambaliza noted that local collaboration is integral to the success of the project. “We know the region,” Dr. Cambaliza stated, referring to discussions they had with other participants regarding the intensive field campaign to be conducted in Clark, Pampanga this September-October 2019.
